01-02-08 - Chuckchansi's 3rd WPT playoff is scheduled for January 20th 2008. Jerry Yang 2007 WSOP champion has again qualified. See him and others play on January 20th 2008.

11-14-07 - Jerry Yang (2008 WSOP Champion has again qualified at Chuckchansi for WPT qualifing tournament to be held January 20, 2008.

10-28-07 - Robert Rowland Smith wins the second $28,500 WPT Seat at Chuckchansi. Robert will be playing in May at the Bellagio in the WPT World championship with a prize pool of approximately $ 15,000,000.

10-28-07 - Local player Steve Spate eliminated WSOP World Champ Jerry Yang on the first hand at the WPT qualifier held Sunday at Chuckchansi Casino. Steves pocket queens beat Yang's pocket Kings when a Queen fell on the flop. Steve played the hand like a pro and had Yang betting until the river when Steve pushed all in and had Yang pot committed to call. Jerry Yang was the ultimate in professionalism. He spent time meeting and signing autographs before the tournament and left with a handshake and congratulations to Steve. 10-21-07 Great News for Poker Tournaments!

As reported earlier, the IRS has revisited Revenue Procedure 2007-57, which would have required withholding on all poker tournament payouts of more than $5,000.
Apparently, the American Gaming Association has some good negotiators. This IRS Press Release states that reporting will be required on, "...tournament winnings of more than $5,000, usually on an IRS Form W-2G."
So instead of more reporting and withholding, there will actually be no change in withholding and less reporting of winnings! Casinos that currently follow the Binion's Closing Agreement will now only have to issue W-2Gs if a poker tournament winner receives more than $5,000 rather than $600.
IRS still must re-release the Revenue Procedure. But it really appears that this is very good news for both poker tournament organizers and for poker players.

This is a chance to say you played with or beat a world champion. (Satellites played Saturday & Sunday @ noon & Sat, Mon & Tue at 7:00pm $120 Single table satellites)
